AMS Studio
AMS Studio is an integrated environment used to manage the localisation project. AMS Studio comes with all the tools to smoothly handle all the phases of the localisation project. Here is the list of all modules:
Another module called the Translation Pad comes with AMS. It is a standalone version of the Translation Editor, freely distributable. It provides functionality which allows the AMS Thesaurus to be translated, manipulated and edited including in HTML format.
Project Module
The Project Module allows creating and managing projects. Languages can be added and removed at any time.
It is possible to import / export texts and translations from/to several formats such as an Excel file, a text file, another AMS thesaurus file or from a TMX (Translation Memory eXchange) file.
Projects can be saved with different versions, backed up and reapplied in order to manage and track different stages of the localisation process.
Translation Editor Module
The Translation Editor Module allows entering and modifying translations. It is mostly used by translators. When AMS Studio is in Capture Mode, new texts are also added to the list of texts displayed in the Translation Editor. When dealing with HTML texts, the Translation Editor can display the fully formatted HTML text in the lower part of the Translation Editor window. It is then not necessary to know the details of the HTML syntax to enter translations.
Dictionaries
The AMS provides additional dictionaries, system and user-created, which help automate the translation. System dictionaries are constituted from the extraction of application libraries. User dictionaries are built up and added to from human translations. If a relevant translation for an item of text can be found in either of these dictionaries , it will be provided and entered into the multilingual dictionary to provide an automatic translation.

Extractor Module
The Extractor Module allows extracting the texts to translate from the source code. This method scans the code and properties associated with an application’s objects, collecting text strings from the source code such as error messages, labels and window titles. Numerous formats are supported; please see the supported environment section to learn more about the supported formats. The texts resulting from an extraction can be reviewed and filtered as necessary. The AMS Text Preprocessor allows strings of text to be inspected and filtered according to specific rules and conditions.
Duplicator Module
The Duplicator Module is used to localise some files through duplication. It is used to localise content where the AMS normal approach based on interception will not fit. For instance it generally used to localise help files.
Thesaurus Editor Module
The Thesaurus Editor Module is used to access the content of a thesaurus at a low-level. Everything that can be stored in the thesaurus can be modified through the Thesaurus Editor Module. Its usage is generally reserved for advanced configuration or troubleshooting.
Database Manager Module
The Database Manager Module permits to connect to any database through ODBC and extract texts from any given columns. It is useful for instance to retrieve error messages that are stored in the database. The Database Manager Module also allows in-place translation of selected text and columns: in this mode, the selected columns are accessed and each text is replaced by its corresponding translation from the thesaurus.
Web Translator
The Web Translator Module is used to display and verify the translations of Web applications. It allows displaying the translated Web application inside AMS Studio.
XML Manager
The XML Manager Module is used to extract texts from some XML files or to prepare templates that will instruct the AMS Proxy which attributes of an XML entity should be translated (for Web applications).
